The Latch Hook Elk - Part 1

I have gotten started on the Latch Rug Wall Hanging!

Here is the box. On top is the canvas backing. The lower half contains all the yarn for the project. The yarn strands are grouped in bundles and surrounded by plastic.
I think the reason the makers bundle different colors together with roughly the same proportionality is because if one bundle is lost, you don't lose too many of each color. As you can see, in this project there is going to be a lot more light blue than there is brown.

The canvas is pretty large and so you can sort of see the pattern stamped onto the canvas. The colors on the pattern generally aren't the colors that go there but they do stay roughly consistent on the canvas.

 That's one knot done.

Here's one row done. It took the better part of 20 minutes but I am out of practice.

I had forgotten that I can't work too long on this because the canvas is abrasive on my hands but I should be able to get a bit more done tonight.
