The Pink Scarf - Done!

It's a pretty long scarf. I did three rows of stockinette and five rows of reverse stockinette to finish up and then wove in all loose ends. I don't quite know why the ends look different.

As a side note, I can clearly see the break when I stopped for the summer, which was about one third of the way up from the bottom. I knitted more this semester than I did last semester, which I found strange.

The Latch Hook Elk - Part 2

There is some visible progress on the wall hanging:

This is about 6 rows so far. A row is about 70 squares long.

This last photo shows the bundles I've used so far, from right to left. Because the bottom is pretty black heavy in comparison to the entire project, I keep running out of black in the bundles. The one on the left is the only one that still has black in it. Meanwhile, I still haven't touched the sky blue and probably won't for a while. If the far right one falls apart any more, I'm going to have to save the yarns in a plastic bag while I wait to use those colors.

Even still, I've got a long way to go.

The Pink Scarf - Nearly There

This piece is coming along rapidly. I've moved past the snarl from last year - that is the joining about 8 inches down from the needle.

It's about time - I don't think it should have taken this long to do this scarf, even if I was away for the summer.

The Latch Hook Elk - Part 1

I have gotten started on the Latch Rug Wall Hanging!

Here is the box. On top is the canvas backing. The lower half contains all the yarn for the project. The yarn strands are grouped in bundles and surrounded by plastic.
I think the reason the makers bundle different colors together with roughly the same proportionality is because if one bundle is lost, you don't lose too many of each color. As you can see, in this project there is going to be a lot more light blue than there is brown.

The canvas is pretty large and so you can sort of see the pattern stamped onto the canvas. The colors on the pattern generally aren't the colors that go there but they do stay roughly consistent on the canvas.

 That's one knot done.

Here's one row done. It took the better part of 20 minutes but I am out of practice.

I had forgotten that I can't work too long on this because the canvas is abrasive on my hands but I should be able to get a bit more done tonight.

Some more pink scarf

I realized yesterday that I've spent most of this year working on this scarf. It's close to getting done - I hope to have it done by the end of September. The next step is to knit enough yarn that I can turn the leftover yarn into a ball.

I ran into a knot in the yarn so I cut that part out and treated the rest of the yarn like a new ball of yarn. The joining didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked.

I knitted about a foot beyond that when I ran into this lovely part:

That isn't a knot. That is a mistake in the yarn. Lovely, isn't it?

The Latch Hook Elk Wall Hanging Starter

It's a new semester - it must be time for a new project. This guy has been sitting under my bed for a couple of months and it's time to actually work on it.

This is the Latch Hook Wall Hanging - a nice view of an elk in front of a mountain. It measures 20" x 30" - making it bigger than the other latch hook rugs I've worked on in the past. I actually did a wall hanging similar in size to this about five years ago and that took me most of the summer. My ambitious plan is to have it done by the end of the semester.

Back to Business

Now that I am finally back to my craft supplies, it's time to work on my on-going projects. Specifically, the Pink Scarf.

I've added about a foot since I got back to school. I've changed how I knitted and purled since I left this piece - you can see where the stitches clearly change shape.

This thing is already pretty long but I think I will keep knitting until I run out of yarn.
